Free Spirits Big Band is a band led by renowned bassist and composer David Mengual. The band has the structure of a big band but plays a repertoire of unique arrangements of jazz musicians from the scene of Barcelona and a risky proposal in which there is a lot of improvisation and all the musicians involved. Since its creation in 2009, improvisation has been gaining ground and continuity musicians and their involvement has allowed to build a musical community well established. Univers Evans, the band's first album, includes songs by pianist Bill Evans, arranged by Joan Diaz.
